View from the ocean, a majestic, almost totally snow-covered mountain rises to fill half of the picture. Clouds play around the solid white, sharp peak. Small islands are in the foreground and you can see snow on every spruce. The sky is a pale while/blue.

"Smoke on the water and fire in the sky"

Pic of an estuary on a cloudy day. Someone has a campfire burning to the right of the pic, so clouds of fast moving, pure white smoke is drifting across the water, reflecting in the estuary surface. There is a line of spruce trees at the water's edge which are also reflected in the water. A small slice of snow-covered mountain is visible to the far upper right.

The view from Castle Hill, the highest point in Sitka proper, across Crescent Harbor and Eastern Channel. The mountains in the far back ground are jagged and full of snow, the sky a particularly electric blue with a few white clouds moving lazily through the air.

My favorite cloud pic that I've taken

A pic overlooking the channel, waves lapping at the shore and the gray clouds in the distance are in the distinct shape of a mermaid. Her hair is blowing to the right, her back is slightly turned toward us with an arm coyly over her chest. Her tail is bent back - she appears to be sitting on it.

View of Sitka taken from a boat in Sitka Sound. The O'Connell, which connects Japonski and Baranof Islands in is the lower right, just above the water line. You can barely make out buildings along the shoreline, but huge, jagged mountains rise precipitously in the shot, and the peaks are snow covered. The sky is cloudless and bright blue, giving the whole pic a blue cast when you add in the water.

Pic of the back of Sitka Sound, layers of clouds in varying shades of gray are stacked in the sky. Beams of pale gray light are coming down from the obscured sun. There are outcroppings of mountains going back into the bay, black, then dark gray, light gray, then white. The sun has made just a sliver of silver on the water in the very back of the pic.

I should've saved this one for Silent Sunday, but it was just too pretty to sit on for a day.

The sky has many different types of clouds, ranging from dark gray in a large band across the top to a very distinct cumulus on the right, with its edges glowing white. There are other random, drawn out clouds across the blue sky in the distance. The clouds are reflected in the small bit of ocean left at low tide. The pic is framed with a few tree branches on the right and left. Small islands are seen in the distance. The whole pic glows silver - a gift of the light.
